About the Role
As a Boarding Officer at SVR Port Agencies (M) Sdn Bhd, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our maritime and port services. This position requires you to be the primary point of contact for vessels arriving at and departing from the port. You will be responsible for coordinating with ship crews, port authorities, and various stakeholders to facilitate efficient and compliant port operations. Key Responsibilities:
Vessel Coordination:
Act as the primary liaison between the ship, port authorities, and SVR Port Agencies.
Ensure all necessary pre-arrival and departure documentation is accurately prepared and submitted.
Coordinate berth arrangements and manage the scheduling of vessel movements within the port.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all vessel operations comply with local and international maritime regulations.
Conduct onboard inspections to verify adherence to safety, security, and environmental standards.
Handle customs and immigration clearances for ship crew and cargo.
Operational Efficiency:
Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
Address any operational issues or delays promptly and effectively.
Maintain accurate records of all port activities and generate reports as required.
Stakeholder Communication:
Establish and maintain effective communication with ship captains, crew, port officials, and other stakeholders.
Provide support and assistance to crew members during their stay in port.
Facilitate smooth coordination between various departments to ensure cohesive operations.
Emergency Response:
Be prepared to respond to emergencies and coordinate with relevant authorities to manage incidents effectively.
Ensure all emergency protocols and procedures are in place and well-communicated to all parties involved.

Experienced: With a background in maritime or port operations, you bring hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of the industry.
Communicative: You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively interact with diverse groups, including ship crews, port authorities, and company staff.

Requirements
Educational Background:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional maritime or shipping-related certifications preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the maritime industry, port operations, or a related field.
Experience in a similar role, such as a ship agent or in port logistics, is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of port and maritime operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with ship crew, port authorities, and other stakeholders.
Proficient in using standard office software (MS Office Suite) and familiarity with maritime industry software.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good organizational and time management abilities.
Certifications and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license.
STCW certification or equivalent maritime certification is a plus.
Security clearance and ability to obtain necessary port access credentials.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to board vessels, which may include climbing ladders and working in varying weather conditions.
Physically fit to handle the demands of the job, including extended periods of standing and walking.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Proficiency in English; additional language skills relevant to the maritime industry are an asset.
Familiarity with international maritime regulations and local port procedures.
